Discover the U.S. and Arts & Entertainment Combo

This course combines both our Discover the U.S. and Arts & Entertainment curricula in one weekend! Students will learn about the U.S. through classes about Politics, Current Events, and Geography. Students will also study Performing and Visual Arts in the U.S. with workshops in photography, drama, and street art. This course allows students to work closely with other au pairs, create their own works of art, and explore some of Seattle's most important cultural sites.
If you are flying into Seattle, please book a flight that arrives NO LATER than 9:45 am on Thursday and departs no earlier than 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Attendance is mandatory beginning on Thursday with check-in, and does not end until Sunday at 5:00 pm. Students are expected to attend the full weekend and complete all assignments to receive their Completion Letter. After registering for this course, you’ll get a link to join Canvas the day that your pre-assignments become available.

TRANSPORTATION TO CAMPUS
Public Transportation
Seattle Public Library is located at 1000 Fourth Ave., Seattle, WA 98104, close to the University Street stop.
Travel Between Airports & Campus
Take the Link Light Rail 1-line to the University Street stop. It will take about an hour to get from the airport to the library.
Campus Parking
Seattle Public Library is located in the heart of downtown Seattle. It is ideal for our class purposes, but parking can be difficult to find and sometimes expensive. We strongly encourage students to take public transportation, carpool, or be dropped off each day. If students need to drive, there is extremely limited paid parking at the library. There are some other parking garages/lots in the area and some metered parking on the street that they would need to add money to every two hours. You can use the Spothero app or the following parking websites: ParkWhiz, Spot Angels, or ParkMe to reserve a spot before you go.
