COMBO MAKE A DIFFERENCE & DISCOVER THE U.S.
 

The Salt Lake City area is home to more than just the "greatest snow on earth." Come see for yourself why Utah is one of the most underrated states! Students at past classes have enjoyed exploring Olympic Park, where the 2002 Olympic Games were held; stopping by East High School, the location where High School Musical was filmed; visiting the historic Temple Square, and exploring historic Main Street in Park City. Over the four-day weekend, students will spend time in Salt Lake City, Park City, Orem, and Provo.

Combo Make a Difference & Discover The U.S.
Cost, Educational Hours, and Schedule
Receive 60 or 72 educational hours (enough for 6 credits) for the 4-day Make a Difference & Discover The U.S. course at an all-inclusive price of $699. This price includes tuition and registration, course materials, educational excursions including activities and transportation during class hours, and six meals.
 

Hours include pre-weekend assignments, post-weekend assignments, and a course evaluation. Check with your au pair agency regarding hours and credits, as requirements vary.  Also, scheduled activities may be subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances and may be different from previous weekends.
 

Classes are held at the following times:
Friday: (Check-in from 12 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.) 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
Sunday: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
Monday: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Note: To accommodate travel time between the airport and class, plan to arrive on a flight NO LATER than 11am on Friday and depart no earlier than 4:30 pm on Monday.

Attendance is mandatory beginning on Friday with check-in, and does not end until 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Students are expected to attend the full weekend and complete all assignments to receive their Completion Letter. We understand emergencies and important scheduling conflicts can occur, so please contact the program coordinator as soon as possible if there is a situation that prevents you from meeting any of these requirements.

Airport Transportation & Parking
You can take public transportation from the airport to our campus by following the steps in this document. If you are driving, parking around the campus is free.

Housing

As a convenience to students, we offer the option of housing at a hotel within a 10 minute walk of our campus. Simply choose your hotel stay as an add-on during course registration. Please note that housing is only available on a first-come, first-served basis. There may not be enough rooms and beds to accommodate all students. Prices listed reflect a discount because multiple students share a room (we do not offer any private rooms). Click the "Housing" link above for more details.
 

Important Housing Note: If you stay in another location, please know that there is limited or no public transportation to our building on Saturday and Sunday. There can be a long wait at the end of the day for Ubers to arrive. There are almost no Ubers that work on Sunday morning in this area. Please keep travel time in mind, as you must be to class on time each morning. The UVU Thanksgiving Point campus is approximately a 30-minute drive from Salt Lake City; housing should be arranged in or near Lehi, Utah.
