MAKE A DIFFERENCE & DISCOVER THE U.S.

Chicago is one of the BEST large cities in the USA! Our campus is in the heart of downtown, just blocks from the Art Institute, Grant Park, Millennium Park, Museum Campus and the Magnificent Mile. Make a Difference students will learn about the rich cultural diversity of Chicago and how to better collaborate with people from all backgrounds. Visiting cultural institutions with an Explore Chicago Itinerary visiting your choice of the Chicago Cultural Center, National Museum of Mexican Art and Chicago neighborhoods like Pilson, Chinatown and Greektown. Discover The U.S. students will experience the city through activities such as 360 Chicago at the Hancock Tower, Chicago's Millennium Park, a Photo Scavenger Hunt or a comedy show!

Costs and Educational Hours

Both 3-day weekend courses offer 36 hours (equivalent to 3 credits) for an all-inclusive price of $349 per class, which includes tuition and registration, course materials, educational excursions including activities and transportation during class hours, and 1 meal.
 

Hours include pre-weekend assignments, post-weekend assignments, and a course evaluation. Check with your au pair agency regarding hours and credits, as requirements vary.  Also, scheduled activities may be subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances and may be different from previous weekends

Classes are held at the following times:
Friday: (Check-in at 2:00 p.m.) Classes from 2:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. 
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Sunday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
 
Note: To accommodate travel time between the airport and class, plan to arrive on a flight NO LATER than 12:30 pm on Friday and depart no earlier than 6:30 pm on Sunday.
Attendance is mandatory beginning on Friday with check-in, and does not end until Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Students are expected to attend the full weekend and complete all assignments to receive their Completion Letter. We understand emergencies and important scheduling conflicts can occur, so please contact the program coordinator as soon as possible if there is a situation that prevents you from meeting any of these requirements.

Housing & Transportation

Housing is NOT provided or arranged for students who attend a weekend course. However, we do have a partnership with Hostelling International Chicago. If you would like to book with them for a discounted price, use code AUPA10 for 10% off plus waived membership fees.
