Yes, our courses are offered through accredited schools of higher education and satisfy the U.S. Department of State au pair educational requirement. You can view our list of Academic Institutions here.

Question 3

How much do In-Person Courses cost? How many hours are they?

Accepted Answer

APW in-person courses provide the following educational hours:

36 hours for 3-day courses (equivalent to 3 credits)*
60 or 72 hours for 4-day courses (equivalent to 6 credits)*
 
*Educational hours include class time, pre and post-assignments. Please contact your au pair agency regarding credits and hours as requirements may vary.
 
In-person weekends range in price depending on location. For location-specific price details, please visit our Locations Page and click on the location for price.

Your registration fee includes tuition and registration, course materials, educational excursions including activities and transportation during class hours, as well as some meals if offered in that city.

Question 4

I live in a city where the program is not offered. Can I still attend your course?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you are welcome to attend courses in any city you wish! Many of our students travel from other parts of the U.S. to attend our courses.

You are responsible for arranging your own airfare and accommodations. You must attend all hours of the weekend to receive credit, so be sure to consider travel time when booking your flights.

If it is inconvenient for you to travel, you may want to consider attending a 4-day weekend and taking one of our 6-credit courses so you only have to fly once. These are offered in:

Question 5

Is housing included in the registration fee? Where should I stay?

Accepted Answer

Housing is NOT included in course registration fees, except for Texas, Hawaii, and Colorado.

Texas and Colorado course registrations include three nights of housing.
Hawaii course registration includes five nights of housing.
Please see the course location pages for more details.

In the following locations, we have arranged optional housing through nearby hotels or hostels that can be added on during registration for an additional cost. These locations include: Boston, Chicago, Miami, New York City, San Diego, San Francisco, and Utah.

In Seattle, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C., we do not offer housing add-ons, but offer a list of recommended housing suggestions.

Question 7

How much do Online Courses cost? How many hours are they?

Accepted Answer

The cost of a 24-hour (equivalent of 2 credits) online course is $199.

The cost of a 36-hour (equivalent of 3 credits) online course is $249.

The cost of a 72-hour (equivalent of 6 credits) online course is $498.

Question 8

How do I get to class from the airport? Is airfare included?

Accepted Answer

Airfare and transportation from the airport is NOT arranged; you are responsible for your own flights.

Once arriving in your city we suggest taking a taxi or sharing an Uber with other au pairs attending class. Registered students will have the chance to share their flight and contact information to connect with each other. Most cities also have public transportation available.

Question 9

How do I pay for classes?

Accepted Answer

Select the in-person location you want from our Location Pages to find registration buttons for that location. The  Online Courses page has registration buttons for online course.

Can I pay with two cards?

Accepted Answer

At this time we do not accept two different forms of payment or two different cards.

Are international cards accepted?

Accepted Answer

Please use a domestic credit or debit card to make payment. International cards are not accepted at this time.

Question 12

Will I receive a completion letter on the school’s letterhead once I complete the class? When?

Accepted Answer

Your letter, on the school’s letterhead, will come to you as a PDF file attached to an email. For most IN-PERSON courses, this will be 5 - 7 business days after you complete the class and all necessary assignments. For most ONLINE courses, you can receive your completion letter within 1-2 weeks of course completion.

Can I receive a Proof of Enrollment letter to show that I am registered for a class if my au pair agency requires one?

Yes. Once you complete your registration process you may contact our customer service team to request a Proof of Enrollment letter.

Question 14

Is there other homework besides weekend attendance?

Accepted Answer

Pre-weekend assignments help prepare you for class. The assignments vary by course, but may include student discussion boards, quizzes, and presentations to be shared during the course.

Post-weekend assignments strengthen what you've learned over the weekend. These include written reflections based on weekend classes and activities, and other activities designed to help you make the most of your experience in the U.S. Not every course/location includes post-weekend assignments.

Completing these assignments is a required part of the course to receive your completion letter. You will be able to access these assignments online after enrollment.

Question 15

My friend is also taking the course; can we be together?

YES! After registering, you will have an opportunity to share with us if you are joining with a friend. We will do our best to keep you and your friend in the same section. Please sign up early to ensure there are at least two spots left in the course and you can both get registered. We ask for your flexibility as this is not always a guarantee.

After registering for a class, you will be assigned a designated program coordinator who can assist you with questions about your course and its location.

Question 17

How can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Contact us to request a refund. If it is within 3 weeks of your course start date, you will not receive a full refund. In lieu of a refund, it may also be possible to switch to another weekend or online course. Please refer to our refund and cancellation guidelines on our Policies page.

Does Au Pair Weekend offer discounts for military host families?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Au pairs in the homes of host families with military affiliation are eligible to apply the discount code MILITARY25 for $25 off any course, or MILITARY50 for $50 off any 6-credit in-person course.
