As the capital city of the United States of America, Washington, DC is a vibrant city that offers history, culture, and a robust social scene. Students of past classes have enjoyed exploring historic neighborhoods such as Georgetown; visiting the Smithsonian museums; touring national monuments and the U.S. Capitol where congressional members meet; learning about the Supreme Court and Library of Congress, watching performances at the Kennedy Center; attending cultural festivals and parades; and volunteering with community members to help DC residents. Outside of the classroom, many students enjoy some of DC’s top restaurants and nightlife.
Costs and Educational Hours
The 3-day weekend course offers 36 educational hours (equivalent to 3 credits) for an all-inclusive price of $349, which includes tuition and registration, course materials, educational excursions including activities and transportation during class hours, and some meals.
Register for both courses at once (as a 4-day combo or a double weekend package offering 60 or 72 hours (combo) or 72 hours (double) / equivalent to 6 credits, for only $619.
Note: hours include pre-weekend assignments and follow-up work.
Classes are held at the following times:
Friday: 3:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. (check-in from 3-3:25 p.m.)
Saturday: 8:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Sunday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Special Hours for Newly Scheduled Weekends ONLY
Friday: 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm (check-in begins at 12:30 pm)
Saturday: 8:30 am - 8:30 pm
May 31st-June 1st
Sunday: 8:30 am - 8:30 pm (check-in begins at 8:00 am)
Monday: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Attendance is mandatory beginning on Friday, with check-in from 3:00-3:25 pm and classes starting at 3:30 pm, and does not end until Sunday at 5:00 pm. If you are late to class or leave early on Sunday, you will not be eligible to receive your completion letter. Travel arrangements or work commitments are not accepted as excuses for missing class hours.

This location is NOT the main campus. It is near Union Station.
Housing is available as a courtesy to students and is provided for those who sign up for housing through this registration site. During the registration process, you can add two nights at Hostelling International Washington DC for $95 for 1 bed in an 8-bed dorm shared with other APW students. Hostelling International DC (1009 11 St. NW Washington, DC) is about a 20 minute walk from campus. Registrations that include housing must be completed by 30 days prior to class start date.
