International Education Week

Updated: Dec 7, 2020

International Education Week (IEW) 2020 was held November 16-20, an occasion to celebrate the many benefits of international education and cultural exchange around the globe. This year's IEW theme of "engaged, resilient, and global" seemed fitting as the world continues to deal with the challenges of COVID-19.

Here are a few highlights of how APW celebrated IEW along with a few of our partners.

Au Pair Weekend showed off some "Country Commercials" that students have shared in their classes over the years and learned about the many countries where their students have taken classes around the world.

UCLA's IEW went virtual this year with a variety of traditional events and activities including a variety of conversation and speaker sessions, film screenings, trivia games, as well as a celebration of Diwali at the Fowler Museum and the Indian Student Union.

United Planet held a fun-filled week of activities, including a question and answer session with United Planet's country coordinators from Costa Rica, India, Ghana and Mali. Participants listened to the various perspectives on the benefits of international exchange and how they could become global citizens that can make a positive impact.

Au Pair in America celebrated IEW by highlighting the many benefits of hosting an au pair by having host families share their personal stories surrounding the impact of cultural exchange. “The cultural experience for our boys was beyond measure as she introduced them to her traditions, foods, and taught them French – though it far exceeded just the boys as it also provided the cultural experience to us as parents", shared the Dennison family.
