Gain a greater understanding of the United States and share your home country's culture with your au pair classmates! In this course, you will learn about U.S. geography, as well as exciting events in U.S. history and how they have influenced the current U.S. political culture and process.
Through excursions and activities, you will be able to explore and further understand the important historical and cultural identity of the course city area that you are visiting. Explore a major U.S. city and make global connections as you work together with other au pairs from around the world!

This course is designed specifically to help au pairs navigate the cultural and personal challenges of living in the U.S.
You will discuss conflict resolution, cultural diversity in the United States and how to successfully interact with people from different backgrounds and life experiences. Being in a diverse classroom will allow you to make new friends with individuals from all over the world and put everything you are learning into practice!
Our experienced instructors will help you learn ways to deepen your connection with your community. This is a great opportunity to build important life skills through an engaging combination of classroom discussions, activities, and assignments. Be the change you want to see in the world!

COMBO MAKE A DIFFERENCE & DISCOVER THE U.S.
EQUIVALENT TO 60 OR 72 HOURS / 6 CREDITS
Earn 60 or 72 educational hours (equivalent to 6 credits) in just one weekend! Our Make a Difference and Discover the U.S. Combo turns two courses into one fun filled adventure!
In this course, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the area you are visiting and the local cultural landmarks. In the classroom you’ll get to know your au pair classmates as you share your experiences and opinions, and discuss what it means to be part of a community.
You’ll also learn about American culture, geography and history. It’s an exciting weekend of discovering both yourself and your community!
Are you in your first few months as an au pair in the United States? In some locations we also offer a variation of this course called the New Arrival Track - just for you, and at no extra cost!
