Los Angeles Course Details
In-person courses include both pre-weekend and post-weekend assignments. Pre-weekend assignments open 3 weeks before the scheduled weekend and are due 1 week before the city weekend. After the weekend, you will have 3 weeks to complete your coursework.
Creativity & Wellness (In Person)

This immersive weekend invites you to explore the principles of our wellness curriculum through the lens of creativity. With transformative hands-on experiences, connections with nature, and connective group activities, you will explore the personal power of creativity while building friendships with au pairs from across the globe.
To accommodate travel time between the airport and class, plan to arrive for your course on a flight NO LATER than 12:00 pm on Friday and depart no earlier than 5:30 pm on Sunday.
Attendance is mandatory beginning on Friday with check-in, and does not end until Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Students are expected to attend the full weekend and complete all assignments to receive their Completion Letter. We understand emergencies and important scheduling conflicts can occur, so please contact the program coordinator as soon as possible if there is a situation that prevents you from meeting any of these requirements.
After registering for this course, you'll get a link to join Canvas the day that your pre-assignments become available.
Hours include pre-weekend assignments, post-weekend assignments, and a course evaluation. Check with your au pair agency regarding hours and credits, as requirements vary. Scheduled activities may be subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances and may be different from previous weekends.
Arts & Entertainment (Online)
Build your creative skills and get in touch with your inner artist! Get an in-depth look at both visual and performing arts in the United States.
Already have experience in the arts? Deepen your skills with this course! No background in arts and entertainment? That's okay! You will practice exciting visual and performing arts skills while learning about influential artists and artistic styles from the United States.
Our activities and classes will teach you about photography, theater, film, dance, music, and graphic design. You will learn about the important role the arts play in individuals and communities, and hear valuable tips from professionals about how to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, including an exclusive interview with an Emmy award winning director and producer!

A weekend to remember.
Los Angeles, the "City of Angels", is also known as the Creative Capital of the World! In this highly interactive course, you will see for yourself why so many world class innovators find their inspiration here. Through sunset photography, mindfulness experiences, creative connections, and personal exploration, this place may just transform you!
HOUSING
Housing is not included with registration for this course.
However, as a convenience to students, we offer the option of adding housing at a hostel just a 10-minute walk from the theater where classes will be held. Beds are limited and may sell out; they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can add a 2-night stay (Friday & Saturday) at the hostel in a shared dorm room. When possible, we will place you in a room with other au pairs. There will be a $50 administration fee for all housing refunds. Refunds are only allowed up to 30 days prior to the weekend start date.

Public Transportation
LA’s public transportation is not as robust as many other cities. If you’re interested in taking the bus or train to get around, read this beginner’s guide to public transportation in Los Angeles and utilize Google Maps' convenient public transit option when calculating travel times. You may still need to rely on Uber or Lyft to complete your journeys.

Parking Structure 6 (1431 2nd St, Santa Monica, CA 90401) is just in front of HI hostel which is a 8 minute walk from Santa Monica Playhouse. You will pay per hour until a maximum of $20 per calendar day on weekdays, and $25 per calendar day on weekends. It resets at midnight, and the first 90 minutes are free. More information here.
