Students in our Salt Lake City program enjoy hiking along beautiful Utah trails, taking pictures in front of the famous school where High School Musical was filmed, visiting the Utah State Capitol, and exploring the historic Main Street in Park City. Over the four-day weekend, students will spend time in Salt Lake City, Park City, Lehi, and Provo.

Learn about community and American culture, and make global connections through our Make a Difference and Discover the U.S. courses. Created just for au pairs, these courses will help you navigate the many emotions and experiences that come with living abroad in the United States. Build connections with your au pair classmates through a variety of excursions, activities, and engaging in class discussions.

To accommodate travel time between the airport and class, plan to arrive for your course on a flight NO LATER than 11:00 am on Friday and depart no earlier than 4:30 pm on Monday.

Attendance is mandatory beginning on Friday with check-in, and does not end until Monday at 2:00 pm. Students are expected to attend the full weekend and complete all assignments to receive their Completion Letter. We understand emergencies and important scheduling conflicts can occur, so please contact the program coordinator as soon as possible if there is a situation that prevents you from meeting any of these requirements.

After registering for this course, you’ll get a link to join Canvas the day that your pre-assignments become available.

Hours include pre-weekend assignments, post-weekend assignments, and a course evaluation. Check with your au pair agency regarding hours and credits, as requirements vary. Scheduled activities may be subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances and may be different from previous weekends.

HOUSING & TRANSPORTATION

Housing is not automatically included for students who attend a weekend course. However, in Utah students can choose to add a housing option at a hotel for an additional charge.

During your course registration, you can add three nights of housing at a local hotel for an additional cost of $210 - $260 for 3 nights or $280 - $330 for 4 nights (Thursday - Sunday) of housing.

Please note that housing is only available on a first-come, first-served basis. There may not be enough rooms and beds to accommodate all students.

Important Housing Note: If you stay in another location, please know that there is limited or no public transportation to our building on Saturday and Sunday. There can be a long wait at the end of the day for Ubers to arrive. There are almost no Ubers that work on Sunday morning in this area. Please keep travel time in mind, as you must be to class on time each morning. The UVU Thanksgiving Point campus is approximately a 30-minute drive from Salt Lake City; housing should be arranged in or near Lehi, Utah.
